The mechanism of e-visas in Russia will be introduced gradually
According to the Russian President Vladimir Putin, e-visas can be used more widely but with due regard to the interests of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
“We should move to a wider use of electronic visas. All this is in process now,” Putin said during the Business Russia forum.
“Electronic visas are the right decision, we will definitely go in this direction,” the president stressed.
As noted, tourists who arrive in St. Petersburg on tourist ships may stay in the city without a visa. At the same time, due attention should be paid to security issues.
It must be emphasized that some foreigners came to Russia as football fans and tried to penetrate into neighboring states, including the EU countries.
In December 2018, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Olga Golodets said that the Kaliningrad region, Moscow and St. Petersburg would become pilot regions for issuing electronic visas, soon the new mechanism will work throughout the Russian Federation.
Now an absolutely new and innovative system of electronic visas is being developed in Russia.
