Visa-Regime für die Teilnehmer der Olympischen Spiele in Sotschi wurde vereinfacht

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree guaranteeing a simplified procedure of visa issuing to foreign citizens arriving in Russia to prepare and participate in the Sochi Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2014, – informs the agency “Interfax”.

The new rules will almost halve the time required for Russian visa documents, increasing the efficiency and consistency of the organizational work, – say the proponents of the bill. In addition, due to the appropriate changes in the tax code, the volunteers and athletes will be exempted from tax on the issuance of the simplified visa. Now, the Russian Foreign Ministry may decide to issue a visa to the foreigner on the basis of the petition of the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “Organizing Committee „Sochi 2014“” to the consulate or other Russian representative in foreign countries.

In addition to the light duty processing of documents, a maximum three days period is set, when the information on the issued documents should be sent to the authorities responsible for monitoring compliance with the legislation in the field of migration.
