
Die Staatsduma hat die Vereinfachung des Visa-Regimes zwischen Russland und der Schweiz ratifiziert
Last week State Duma ratified the agreement with Switzerland on simplifying the visa regime between the countries, which was signed on 21 September 2009 in Bern, – informs the agency REGNUM.
The Agreement provides bilateral simplifying of the procedure of obtaining a single-entry visa valid for up to three months. This agreement applies to the citizens of Russia and Switzerland who are the members of official delegations, businessmen, drivers and registered international passenger and cargo carriers.
Also is simplified the procedure of issuing visas to journalists, scientists, cultural and educational figures, school and university students, athletes, and citizens visiting relatives – the citizens of the partner country.
In addition, the order of issuing of multiple-entry visas valid for five years has been changed, and for the holders of diplomatic passports the possibility of visa-free travel for a period of 90 days within every 180 days is provided.
The changes will affect only the officials, businessmen and members of various social and government programs. For tourists all remains unchanged.
Simplification of visa regime is part of a program to promote cooperation between the two countries, increase the possibility of mutual contacts of citizens, facilitate business and social life.
As noted by the State Duma Committee of Foreign Affairs, the agreement meets the interests of Russia in terms of development of international contacts at various levels and directions.
