Ausländer könnten aufgefordert werden, Fingerabdrücke vorzulegen
A new federal law on migrants is under development at the Russian Interior Ministry. The plan of new law provides for fingerprinting and medical examination before the arrival of foreigners in Russia.
This document notes that procedure for fingerprinting and photographing is provided. Identification of foreign citizens will be carried out in order to prevent terrorist threat and modernize migration control by the state.
These procedures will be carried out in diplomatic missions and consular offices of Russia.
Document also explains that it is planned rejection of migration card to increase level of migration control and reduce risks of illegal migration. The transmission of data on crossing the state border when entering and leaving the Russian Federation will be performed automatically by the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in real time.
Testing of the fingerprint collection system for issuing visas began in September 2019. These procedures were carried out at Russian diplomatic missions in Great Britain, Denmark, Namibia, Myanmar, as well as at Moscow's Vnukovo airport.
