Ausländer werden von Visa direkt an der Grenze in Wladiwostok zu bekommen

At the meeting on June 4th the Russian government approved the bill “On the free port of Vladivostok”. According to the agency “Russia today”, the bill provides for a number of changes to the Tax Code and other legislative acts.

For the first time, the idea to give the status of a free port to Vladivostok was offered by the Russian President Vladimir Putin in December 2014 in a letter to the Federal Assembly. It is planned that Vladivostok will remain the free port for 70 years.

The status of “free port” provides, in particular, a special tax and legal regime for foreign investors, free customs zone and a simplified visa regime. This means that foreigners staying in the port will get visas for eight days right at the border.

This news was announced by the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev: “A simplified visa regime will be introduced in the free port of Vladivostok. Due to this, foreign guests will receive eight-day visas right at the border. At the same time, check points will work twenty-four hours a day.”

At the moment, the Cabinet instructed the Ministry for Development of Russian Far East together with other state structures to consider several key moments to prepare a bill for the second reading. So, the question of reduced insurance premium rate for residents of the port, questions of lands of the Russian Ministry of Defence and water areas of naval bases of the Russian Navy being a part of its territory require additional working out.

According to the Ministry for Development of Russian Far East, the free port territory should consolidate thirteen municipalities: from the port of Zarubino on the border with China and North Korea to the port of Vostochny.
