August 1 the first train “Crimea” went from Simferopol to Moscow with 200 passengers, – informs the agency “Interfax”.

According to the schedule, now the train will depart daily from the train station at 7 am. This schedule will be in effect until the end of 2015.

The train can accommodate 460 passengers and travel time to Moscow is 46 hours 23 minutes. The train consists of nine cars: eight of second-class and one first-class compartment.

The train route passes through the crossing “Crimea-Caucasus”, where the passengers will take ferry and the sealed train cars will be loaded on a railway crossing.

The new route is designed to create a secure route to the Crimea, bypassing Ukraine. Speaking to reporters, the minister of internal policy, information and communications of Crimea Dmitry Polonsky said: “Now we can guarantee the complete safety of the passengers. Today we are opening a regular transport to mainland Russia and Moscow. We believe that Simferopol will be linked by rail with other cities of our country”.

Despite the fact that the first train was 50% full, the official is sure that in the future the demand for tickets will be 100%.

The “Crimea” is the first train within 25 years which went through the Kerch Strait.
