Sheremetyevo International Airport outlined some changes in its terminals, said Travel.ru.

Airport Terminal 2 (the new name F) will be entirely given to domestic flights in a year. This will bring a double benefit by allowing more targeted use of it and release terminal Sheremetyevo – 3 (now D) from domestic flights.

Passengers on international flights will feel much more comfortable – as now space of “free zone” in the terminal is limited, and transfer of domestic flights will significantly improve the conditions at the airport.

The only thing that can hinder innovation is an unfinished Terminal E, which was supposed to be opened in April 2010. Now the airport promises to open the terminal in May 2010. But this term is questionable, because the opening has been suspended more than once.

The terminal will have acceptance rate of up to 1600 passengers per hour (respectively 960 for departure and 640 on arrival) and up to 7 million passengers a year. The terminal will have 37 check-in counters and 44 passport control counters, Duty Free shops will spread out in 8 thousand sq meters. Bringing into service a new terminal at the international airport Sheremetyevo will allow serving up to 30 million passengers a year. “Free Zone” of all three terminals will be merged into one.

However, experts underline that all these changes and transfers will be much easier to implement if all terminals at the airport will come under one control. At the moment, Aeroflot Ltd. controls Sheremetyevo 3, and the other two terminals are controlled by International Airport itself. And the misunderstanding that arises between them, from time to time significantly inhibits the work.
