Russia's President Vladimir Putin said the government to ensure the adoption of the law on electronic visas for foreigners by October 1, 2020. It is scheduled that the law will come into force from the next year and will simplify the process of obtaining visas for foreigners. From January 1, 2021 a foreign citizen will be able to fill in an application on a special website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. It will be possible to go to Russia with this visa once in a period of up to two months for 16 days.

According to the chairman of the organization “Association of Tourists in Russia”, general director of the Club for the protection of tourist rights Dmitry Davydenko, single-entry electronic visas to Russia will increase the tourist flow in the country.

“The simplification of visa regime is a very good event for tourism. This decision will lead to an increase in tourist flow, as it will free foreigners from many procedures, which often discourage all desire to travel”, — said Davydenko.

It should be noted that the process of visa simplification in Russia requires joint collaboration with other countries and it is always based on the mutual cooperation.

“The position of the Foreign Ministry is that the visa regime should be mutual. If some countries remove visas for Russians, then Russia is ready to do the same thing”, — Davydenko stressed.

It should be reminded that Russia already has a visa-free regime with almost all countries except Europe, the USA, Canada and the UK. The introduction of single-entry electronic visa will be one more step to simplify the visa regime of Russia with other countries.
