The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation made a decision to extend the experiment on issuing 72-hour tourist visas to foreigners until December 16, 2016. Earlier it was reported that the procedure for issuing short-term visas will be valid until January 1, 2016.

As note the experts of the Regional Agency for international and interregional relations, a simplified procedure for issuing visas contributes to the development of tourism in the region and strengthens cultural ties.

According to the information on the web-site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the extension of the experiment was necessary for more seamless transition to the standard procedure for issuing tourist visas through consular centers and diplomatic representations.

Short-term tourist visas will be available for citizens of the Schengen space as well as for citizens of Japan and the UK. Visas will be processed at cars checkpoints Bagrationovsk and Mamontovo; air passengers will be able to get visas at Khrabrovo airport.
