Die Initiative für die Einführung elektronischer Visa nach Kaliningrad für Ausländer

According to the announcement made by the interim governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov during an interview with TASS in the framework of the Russian Investment Forum “Sochi-2017”, foreign nationals will be able to receive e-visas to enter the Kaliningrad Region.

As noted A. Alikhanov, initially the authorities treated the issue of the complete abolition of visas and introduction of a visa-free regime in Kaliningrad, but later it was decided to follow the example of Vladivostok by introducing the system of electronic visas issued through the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Currently, the initiative of simplification of the visa regime in Kaliningrad is under active discussion; all the necessary amendments have already been made to the Law on the main economic zone (MEZ) of the Kaliningrad region which now takes the final stage of coordination at the federal level. According to A. Alikhanov, the appropriate decisions will be soon submitted by the Ministry of Economic Development to the Government for their further progress at the parliamentary level.
