According to the news, foreign tourists will be able to enter Russia on electronic visas in 2021. The introduction of e-visas and e-migration cards is included in the plan of the federal project “Digital State Management” of the national program “Digital Economy”.
As noted in the project, at first the system will work in test mode in a number of regions and will work all over the country in 2021.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry for Development of the Russian Far East, the introduction of e-visas is aimed to increase the tourist flow to the regions of the Far East as well as to attract foreign investors.
“Electronic visas are becoming increasingly popular. There are more and more foreign citizens who want to visit the Far East on an e-visa,” reported the Ministry press service.
It should be recalled that since August 2017, the law on simplified visa regime in the Far East has been in force. The e-visa is available for citizens of 18 countries. From July 2019, the e-visa procedure will be launched in the Kaliningrad region.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the simplification of the visa regime should be implemented on the basis of reciprocity.
