“Nachts im Museum” sollte der Teilnehmer Anzahl Rekord in diesem Jahr brechen
On May 16, actions “Night at the Museum”, Day of parks and Days of Moscow historical and cultural heritage were held in Moscow. While the participants’ number count is not finished, it is expected that this global event will break the attendance record and will become one of the biggest cultural public events in the city's history.
During the Friday operational meeting of the Moscow government the mayor of the city Sergey Sobyanin announced: “According to the past years’ experience, it is assumed that about 2 million people will attend these events. This is great and one of the biggest events in the world.”
“Night at the Museum” included 400 events on 250 grounds of the city. The whole complex of cultural infrastructure of the city turned out to be involved in the action: libraries, museums, exhibit rooms and theaters. One of the key projects of the “Night” was “Kvartirnik” (“Apartment”) – a complex of 10 excursions to apartment-turned-museums and artists' studios. Another big project attracted attention of the event participants is “The path of the scientist” – an excursion to five natural-science museums. On this day, Muscovites will be able to visit the monuments which are not available in ordinary days: Embassies located in these buildings will open their doors to citizens.
At the same time, the central themes of “Night at the Museum” were the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of Literature.
The program of “Night at the Museum” was arranged so that most of grounds completed their work by midnight. Though, museums and exhibit rooms were opened till the morning.
This year, the event “Night at the Museum” which symbol became the owl was held in Moscow for the ninth time. At the first time, the idea of such an action appeared in Berlin in 1997 and in 1999 France joined the action. At the present moment, “Night at the Museum” takes place in 36 countries including the Netherlands, Poland, the UK, Estonia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain and other European countries.
