According to the information published on Twitter account of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine has imposed restrictions on the entry of Russian men for the duration of the martial law in the country.

“Ukraine has blocked Russian men aged between 16 and 60 from entering the country to prevent Russians from creating units of ‘private’ armies which in fact represent Russian Armed Forces,” the President explained.

Expanded controls are being introduced at the checkpoints of Ukraine. The head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Peter Tsiginal, announced that certain entry restrictions would affect all foreign citizens in general but the entry of Russian men will be banned until December 26, 2018. Some exceptions to the ban would be made, such as in the case of funerals or other humanitarian mission in the country. It is noted that no restrictions will be imposed on the citizens of Ukraine.

P. Poroshenko stressed the importance of strengthening the requirements for the registration of Russian citizens especially in the regions of Ukraine where martial law has been introduced.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Russia does not consider it appropriate to mirror the actions of Ukraine.
