Visa-free entry to Russia for three weeks in the summer
According to the Russian Olympic Committee, fans arriving this summer in the capital of Belarus Minsk for the 2nd European Games will be able to cross the Russian border without visas. To travel to Russia, they will only need an identity document and a ticket to the competition.
As specified in the message, the competition in 15 sports will be held in Minsk from 21 to 30 June, but it will be possible for guests of the competition to freely enter Russia from Belarus only until July 10. Thus, foreigners will be able to stay in Russia without a visa for almost three weeks.
However, not so many fans wishing to visit Russia are expected.
According to the experts, fans will have the opportunity to visit Russia for 1–2 nights within two or three-day intervals which usually exist between quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals of sports competitions. For short trips they will choose Moscow, since Minsk and the Russian capital have convenient, frequent and inexpensive rail and air links. However, experts suggest that there will be few fans wishing to make such trips.
