According to the press service of Kamchatka Krai, the governor of the region Vladimir Ilyukhin and the head of Russiatourism Oleg Safonov, have agreed to introduce a visa-free entry to the region for tourists from China. The corresponding agreement was signed in the framework of the Days of the Far East in Moscow.
The agreement aims to support and develop the inbound tourism from China to Russia in the framework of the Russian-Chinese visa-free tourist exchange. “I hope that this will lead to the fact that an increasing number of Chinese tourists will come to Kamchatka Krai and a very important and promising work on promotion of the tourist product in the markets of the Asia-Pacific region starts,” said Oleg Safonov.
According to statistics, two times more foreign tourists visited Kamchatka in 2018 than a year before. In 2018, the peninsula has been visited by 24.6 thousand citizens of foreign countries while the tourist flow for the whole 2017 was only 13.9 thousand people. Most of the guests arrived in Kamchatka on board of cruise liners.
