Using the success of the hold 2018 FIFA World Cup to attract tourists
During the meeting on the federal budget expenditures for 2019 and 2020–2021 planning period, the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced that the agreed version of the state program for the development of tourism implies an increase in funding, however, the state policy should impart an impetus to this direction according to the existing legacy of major international competitions of recent years. According to the prime minister, there is already an agreed project of financing within the framework of the state program.
As for the sport, the expenses will be insignificant as the major international competitions in Russia have already passed.
“They passed with great success and very successfully, this money was converted not only into sports achievements, but also in the construction of a large number of very important sports facilities which will be used by millions of our people,” Medvedev said.
“But we need not only large construction projects, we need the effective use of the already created infrastructure. Of course, it is necessary that the positive impulse given by the hold championship and the Olympics further influences the development of mass sports in the country and attracts as many tourists as possible”, the prime minister said.
