Simplification of the visa regime for citizens of Austria

According to the Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lyubinsky, Russia simplifies the visa regime for citizens of Austria: starting from this year they will automatically receive a six-month double-entry permit to visit the Russian Federation when applying for a visa.

“The aim of our initiative is to inspire the Austrian tourists to visit not only Moscow and Saint Petersburg, we want to show them the beauty of all our country. And the first thing we did was facilitating the visa regime. Any Austrian tourist who will go to Russia this year and in following years, will automatically receive a double-entry visa valid for six months”, – announced the ambassador.

It is worth mentioning that this year was declared the Year of the Russian-Austrian Tourism which primary goals are the mutual promotion of new tourist products in Russia, the decentralization of tourist flows, the promotion of new travel destinations and the development of interregional cooperation between the two countries. The introduction of the simplified visa regime should significantly increase the number of Austrian tourists in Russia and provoke them to visit the Russian regions.

According to the Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, in order to further development and strengthening of international relations, the governments of two countries intend to declare 2018 the Year of the Russian-Austrian music as well as to discuss the possibility of developing bilateral youth cultural exchanges in 2019.
