Russian airports removed a total ban on the carriage of liquids in hand luggage
March 27 the airport “Sheremetyevo” in its official Twitter account informed that the ban on the carriage of liquids in hand luggage is removed.
The ban was established in response to the directive from the Federal Air Transport Agency January 9, 2014, which required introducing additional measures to ensure the safety of airport passengers. Due to the ban the passengers were forbidden to bring on board any liquids, including creams, lipsticks, gels and perfumes. The exceptions were necessary passenger medication. However, they were required to be confirmed by a medical certificate.
Now passengers, as well as before the ban, can bring on board liquids in containers up to 100 ml, and sealed packages from Duty Free.
Earlier the ban on the transportation of liquids was canceled in the airports in St. Petersburg, Tomsk and Omsk, and a day later in Koltsovo airport in Yekaterinburg. Several other Russian airports continue to apply the rules.
Such severe restrictions were imposed on the eve of the Olympics and operated more than two months. Similar bans were introduced in the United States: they operated for all flights departing to Russia. Also the passengers of these flights could not take advantage of online check-in and had to come to the airline representatives’ counters.
