Russia will not tighten visa requirements for Finland
According to Ivan Volynkin, Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, there are no plans to tighten visa requirements for Finnish citizens in Russia in response to changes in the rules for issuing visas for Russian residents.
“Based on the desire of Russia to facilitate visa procedures and to remove visa barriers for free movement, the Russian side does not plan to tighten the procedure for obtaining visas for Finnish citizens in its turn”, — he explained.
According to Volynkin, Russia strives to remove visa barriers, so for this period it is not planned to complicate the obtaining of documents for Finnish citizens.
It is necessary to remind that earlier the Finnish authorities changed the rules of issuing visas for Russians. Now, in order to get a visa to Finland, Russian citizens need to provide documentary proof of residence, return tickets, route description, income certificate, bank account statement and documents for ownership in Russia. As stressed earlier, Finnish visa centers in Russia requested these documents in exceptional cases.
Despite the tightening of visa rules for Russians by the Finnish authorities, Moscow will not respond to the actions of Helsinki. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation pointed out that the Russian side, on the contrary, seeks to facilitate visa procedures and completely to remove visa barriers for free movement.
It should be reminded that many tourists from St. Petersburg and other regions of Russia visit Finland annually.
