Russia and Latvia simplified the entry procedure for border area residents
Russia and Latvia have amended the agreement simplifying mutual travel for border area residents of the two countries.
According to the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, a simplified procedure for issuing permits for local border movement without presenting a health insurance policy valid for the first trip has been introduced to residents of border areas. “In addition, residents of border areas are given the opportunity to stay in the adjacent border area for the whole duration of this permit without limiting the total period of stay but no more than 90 days of the continuous stay,” the Ministry said.
It should be recalled that the agreement provides for the refusal to put stamps on passing border control into valid travel documents. “The implementation of amendments to the 2010 Agreement is designed to strengthen good-neighborly relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Latvia and to develop mutual social, cultural, kindred and economic contacts in the border regions,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
