Renewal of railway traffic between Finland and Russia
The Finnish government has opened a railway point with Russia at the Vainikkala checkpoint. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Suomi reported this. The adopted decision entered into force on October 18.
Russia and Finland have agreed to open train traffic from December 12 between St. Petersburg and Helsinki.
Air traffic with Finland resumed at the end of January 2021. Lack of recognition of Russian vaccines in the EU is the main obstacle to free crossing of borders with European countries.
At the moment, negotiations are underway on a possible facilitated entry into Finland for Russians who are vaccinated with Sputnik V. This will have a beneficial effect on resumption of tourist flow between two countries.
From October 1, Finland resumed issuing visas to Russian citizens who go on a business trip or have an expired multiple Schengen multiple-entry visa.
