On June 16, a new Decree came into force on temporary measures to regulate the legal status of foreign citizens in Russia.

For citizens of countries with which borders with Russia are officially closed, visas and migration cards are extended from June 16, 2021 until expiration of 90 days from the date of restoration of communications with their home country. For example: a citizen of country A. is now in Russia, he cannot go home because of closed borders. Visa and migration card are automatically renewed, but if an air traffic between Russia and A. is resumed on July 30, then, after 90 days (October 27), documents will expire.

From June 16 to December 31, 2021, temporary residence permit, residence permit, registration, refugee certificates, certificates of temporary asylum are extended for all foreign citizens.

Until September 30, inclusive, it is prohibited to deport and expel foreigners who are on the territory of Russia.

There are two options for foreigners who arrived in Russia before March 15, 2020.

The first is to leave Russia before September 30. The second option is to apply to the local department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on migration issues by September 30 with an application to legalize your status.

If on June 16, 2021 foreigner's temporary stay expired after March 15 last year, but before that there were valid permits, in this case the documents will be renewed automatically, without contacting the Ministry of Internal Affairs office.
