Putin extended the stay of foreign citizens until December 15

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has again extended the period of temporary stay, temporary or permanent residence of foreign citizens and stateless persons in Russia till December 15.

The new decree No. 580 was posted on the website of legal information on September 23. Putin has twice extended stay of foreigners from March 15 to September 15.

All main moments of the previous Decree are the same. The validity of migrants' documents was extended till December 15, this extension applies to those documents that expire from March 15 to December 15, 2020. It is mandatory to apply for patents and work permit to work in Russia.

Validity periods of visas, temporary residence permits, residence permits, and other migration documents are suspended till December 15 (subject to suspension of deadlines from March 15 to December 15). If period of temporary stay of foreigner in Russia expires in the period from March 15 to December 15, then it is extended till December 15. Migrants who are on the territory of Russia without migration registration, patent, temporary residence permit, etc. have the right to remain in the country legally. In the period from March 15 to December 15, migration authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs cannot cancel visas, patents, temporary residence permit, residence permit and other migration documents.
