V. Yakunin warned about the rise in price of tickets for international trains

Russian railway train tickets for international routes may become more expensive – announced the company president Vladimir Yakunin at the Gaidar Forum on Thursday, January 15.

Tickets price will inevitably rise due to the fall of the ruble – stressed V. Yakunin.

The reasons of this connection are that JSC “Russian Railways” pays rate for the use of foreign infrastructure in Swiss francs. Accordingly, the price of tickets will rise in proportion to the level of the fall of the ruble.

“You know what the depreciation of the ruble is. Herewith, tariffs of foreign infrastructure owners are saved,” – said the head of Russian Railways.

In 2015 the cost for domestic long-distance trains will also increase. In this way, the price for the passage in carriages with numbered reserved seats will rise 10% and for the passage in compartments and sleeping-cars – 5%.

At the same time, a schedule of the flexible tariff regulation is still retained. This means that during 194 days a year, ticket prices will be below average, and during 170 days – above it, while the lowest rate will be set on May 8th and 9th when the passage in carriages with numbered reserved seats is 50% lower than the average.
