It will be easier for foreign students to get a job in Russia

The Federation Council approved amendments to the law “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation”, through which foreign students in Russia will be able to get a job on the basis of the ordinary student visa, – informs the agency “RIA Novosti”.

Thus, the term of the student's stay in the country is extended until the end of the school program, and the work permit is issued for the duration of the employment contract, but not more than a year. However, a foreign student is free to work only on the territory of the region, where permission has been obtained and only in the profession specified in the permit.

At the same time, the new law prohibits the employment of foreign nationals under 18 years of age.

According to the newspaper “Izvestia” this fall, the Ministry of Education and Science plans to consider a bill that would allow foreigners to remotely take exams for admission to Russian universities. Applicants will be required to contest the final certification assessments to apply for and take exams at home.

According to the publication, annually it is planned to receive up to 15,000 students from 150 countries for government-financed positions. Now the number of foreigners studying in Russia at the expense of the country is 10,000.
