Introduction of electronic visas throughout Russia
According to the head of the Russiatourism Oleg Safonov, the introduction of electronic visas is one of the most promising mechanisms for simplifying visa procedures for foreign tourists. “Electronic visas are one of the most promising mechanisms for simplifying visa procedures, they are very convenient for tourists. Such visas are gradually being introduced in various regions of Russia now. This process will cover our country along with technological improvements,” Safonov said.
It must be emphasized that Russiatourism supports the simplification of the visa regime.
Starting from this September, foreign tourists are able to arrive on e-visa at Vladivostok Airport (Knevichi), Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Yelizovo), Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk (New), Anadyr (Ugolny) and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Khomutovo). In the Sakhalin Region, Primorsky and Kamchatka Territories, sea border crossing points are operating using this technology. Tourists can use e-visa to enter Primorye through the railway checkpoints “Hassan”, “Makhalino”, “Pogranichny” as well as the automobile checkpoints “Poltavka” and “Turii Rog”.
According to the experts, the number of electronic visas issued to tourists visiting the Far East exceeded 50.2 thousand; the most active are citizens of China, Japan and India.
It should be recalled that citizens of 18 states can apply for an e-visa on a specialized website four days before the intended entry. This visa is issued free of charge.
