The Head of Karelia proposed to introduce an e-visa regime for foreigners

The head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov proposed to introduce e-visa regime on the territory of the republic. The press service of the governor announced this at the end of his meeting with the leadership of Eastern and Northern Finland.

In addition, Artur Parfenchikov proposed to prepare joint projects in tourism both for citizens of Karelia and Finland and for citizens of third countries.

According to the head of the republic, an extension of e-visas issuance for foreigners could be one of the factors for significant increase of tourist flow from Finland to Karelia. “Artur Parfenchikov took such an initiative and it was sent to the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev”, the statement said.

According to the press service, Parfenchikov’s initiative was supported by Finnish representatives.

It is known that Karelia and the regions of Eastern Finland cooperate in many areas. At the moment, the authorities of Karelia are studying in detail Finnish Hardfem garbage recycling technologies. Specialists are preparing introduction of technologies in the region as a revision of the waste management scheme.
