Guard mounting in Kremlin

On Saturday April 18 in Moscow Kremlin took place the opening of the fifth season of tourist program, where enters the ceremonial parade of the horse and foot guard of presidential regiment.

Ceremonial parade – gripping spectacle, which you can admire each Saturday since April until October on Cathedral square, and each last Saturday of month on Red Square. Parade shows the bright and impressive elements of military ceremonial with the demonstration of combatant manuals of arms and horse “roundabout”. The musical tracking of ceremony is performed by the presidential orchestra.

Guard mounting on Cathedral square is an old tradition, which existed already from the time of Ivan the Third. After the revolution the ceremonial parade was substituted with the ceremony of Guard change at Mausoleum, but in spring of 2005 everything returned in its places. There were two reasons: the initiative of military historians from one side and shaping of the programs Russian tourism from another.

This year the program of parade was changed. The performance, which lasted twenty minutes, was prolonged for the minute because of the additional step “Circle”. This spectacular step creates the effect of dominoes with the fulfillment of drill manual with the carbines. Furthermore, the center of the scene of parade is displaced, so the spectators can see the whole scene. As the agency ITAR-TASS described, now the soldiers will be constantly located facing the spectators.

Presidential or Kremlin regiment is the unique military part, which makes part of the federal security service and has status of special service. Formed after the order in April 8, 1936, the regiment was called to protect the main persons of state and Kremlin.

The regiment participates in the state ceremonies, parades, guard of honor, for example, at the Eternal Fire on the grave of Unknown Warrior.
