Entry on e-visas is available at all airports of the Russian Far East
According to the press service of the Ministry for Development of the Russian Far East, starting from September 1, 2018, foreign citizens with electronic visas to Russia will be able to enter the country through all the airports of the Far East. Earlier, the entry on e-visas was possible only through Knevichi airport in Vladivostok.
“In the near future, experts of the border service will test the checkpoints at five airports through which it will be possible to travel to the Far East on electronic visas: Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Elizovo), Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk (Novy), Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Khomutovo) and Anadyr (Ugolny),” said the representative of the Ministry press service. It is also planned to open air checkpoints in Magadan and Yakutsk which do not yet have the necessary equipment for processing electronic visas.
To get an electronic visa, it is necessary to fill in the application on the webpage of the consular department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The issued electronic document should be printed and submitted to the border guards. This visa does not require getting additional invitations and confirmations, it is issued free of charge in about 20 minutes without personal visit to the consulate.
The mechanism of electronic visas has been introduced since August 1, 2017. During this time, almost 24.3 thousand foreign citizens from 14 countries used the simplified visa regime for visiting the Far East.
According to the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Oleg Safonov, the introduction of electronic visas will significantly raise the tourist attraction of the country and make visiting Russia more comfortable for foreign tourists. In this regard, it is planned to extend the coverage area of electronic visas to other subjects of the Russian Federation such as the Kaliningrad Region, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Krasnodar Territory.
