
Electronic visa will allow staying in Russia for up to 16 days
According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, from January 1, 2021 it is planned to introduce a single-entry visa for short-term stay in Russia for up to 16 days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia started to prepare the project on short-term electronic visa for foreigners.
βThe federal law will provide for the introduction of a single-entry electronic visa for short-term stay in the Russian Federation (for up to 16 days) from January 1, 2021β, β the law says.
It should be reminded that in July, the Russian President signed a decree on the introduction of an electronic visa in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region from October 1, 2019. A list of 53 countries whose citizens will be able to visit the Leningrad Region under the new regime has also been developed and approved.
As noted, on the first day, about three thousand people applied for electronic visa.
It is stressed that an electronic visa for a period of up to 16 days will be introduced in all popular Russian cities. The conditions of entry and stay in Russia will become more flexible for foreign citizens.
At the moment, entry to Russia with an electronic visa is realized through the checkpoints of Vladivostok and the Far Eastern Federal District, Kaliningrad region, St. Petersburg and Leningrad region.
