Border traffic will be suspended in Russia

The Russian government headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has prepared an order on temporary restriction of traffic through automobile, railroad and other checkpoints on the Russian border. This order comes into force on March 30.

“In order to prevent the extension of coronavirus infection in the territory of Russia, the Russian Ministry of Transport with the Federal Security Service and the Federal Customs Service suspend the traffic through automobile, railroad and river checkpoints across the Russian border, as well as the traffic through the territory of the Russian-Belarusian border from midnight on 30 March” — said the government.

It is necessary to say that the Russian Federation border will be opened for the citizens of the country – the brigades of international railways, the members of crew and the international truck drivers. The restrictions do not touch people who will leave the country due to the death of a close relative, the residents of the Kaliningrad region who will transit to the country or return, as well as the Russian citizens who live in the Donetsk People’s Republic or in the Lugansk People’s Republic. The restrictions do not touch the foreign citizens who are in the status of diplomatic workers, international transporters and diplomatic couriers.

Sanitary and quarantine control will be tightened for all citizens crossing the border of the country.

It should be recalled that earlier Russia has completely closed regular and charter international flights. Actually, the main purpose of the flights is to return the citizens home.
