La prohibición de la entrada de transporte en las ciudades de la Copa del Mundo
The Russian Union of Travel Industry warned of problems linked with the admission of foreign buses to the cities where the matches of the World Cup will be held. According to the press secretary of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Irina Tyurina, it can happen if the buses are not equipped with satellite navigation systems “ERA-GLONASS”.
“According to the Transport Directorate, during the World Cup, more than 1.5 thousand buses with foreign fans will cross the Russian border — and they may be refused entry to the cities where the matches will be held, due to the lack of them system ERA-GLONASS,” she said.
According to Tyurina, it is necessary to spend from 90 to 120 thousand rubles to equip buses with the “ERA-GLONASS” system that is quite expensive for the owners of transport companies. In addition, the installation of this system takes six months.
The press secretary of the Russian Union of Travel Industry added that the tour operators of St. Petersburg had already missed the guests because many groups refused to travel to Petersburg for the World Cup.
“The local tour operators from Estonia, Latvia and Poland should have brought about 10% of the money turnover. If they do not arrive, the foreign partners of tour operators and St. Petersburg hotels will incur losses”, — she said.
It is necessary to remind that from June 1 to July 17, there is a prohibition on the entry of buses to the territory of Moscow, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Sochi, St. Petersburg, and to the territory of Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Saransk, Kaliningrad. However, it is stressed that this restriction would not concern interurban and municipal buses, and buses equipped with the ERA-GLONASS system.
