The Federation Council approved a draft law on the introduction of the simplified entry procedure for foreign nationals arriving in Russia on electronic visas through the airports of the Far East.

According to the Chairman of the Expert Council for Tourism under the FF Committee on Social Policy Igor Fomin, the practice of issuing electronic visas has shown its effectiveness. As it is emphasized, more than 15 thousand tourists arrived to the Primorsky Territory in this way since last August.

“On Friday, the Federation Council approved a law extending the use of the e-visa regime to almost all airports of the Far Eastern Federal District. We consistently follow the policy of expanding the use of electronic visas as we consider this mechanism to be modern, progressive and convenient for tourists,” reported Igor Fomin.

As noted the Deputy Minister of the Russian Far East Development Pavel Volkov, the mechanism of electronic visas can begin to operate at key airports of the Far East at the end of August. He specified that not all airports are ready to introduce the simplified visa regime yet.

“This is an important law for the Far East; we want to give foreigners the opportunity to arrive on electronic visas to all airports of the Far East. The mechanism of e-visas began to operate last year under the Free Port regime. There are 11 border crossing points, one of which is Knevichi airport. As the practice has shown, air checkpoints are the most popular, therefore, it was decided to extend the mechanism of electronic visas to all Far Eastern airports,” explained Pavel Volkov.

It should be recalled that the mechanism of electronic visas began to operate in the Primorsky Territory in 2017. This mechanism operates under the regime of the Free Port of Vladivostok. These are 12 border crossing points, one of which is Knevichi Airport.

Foreign travelers will be able to use electronic visas to enter and stay up to 8 days at the region they arrived to. It will be also required to leave the country through the airport of arrival. E-visa can be got online free of charge on the website of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
