Visa-free entry to Russia to be available for fans till the end of the year

According to the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, last Tuesday a bill on the extension of the visa-free regime for foreign fans of the 2018 FIFA World Cup was proposed for consideration to the State Duma.

In accordance with the proposed bill, the current federal law regulating the preparation and holding of the 2018 FIFA World Cup is amended by the note which provides foreign citizens and stateless persons who visited the championship matches with the right of multiple visa-free entry to Russia available until December 31 2018 inclusive. The entry of foreign citizens will be carried on valid identity documents recognized by the Russian Federation, as well as on FAN IDs.

As reported Mr. Volodin, the adoption of this amendment will be considered as a matter of priority and will be implemented until the end of this July.

It is worth recalling that the extension of using FAN IDs for other mass sports and cultural events such as the Universiade in 2018 and the XVI Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019, has already been discussed earlier.
