According to the Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexander Galushka, a draft resolution on introduction of the simplified visa regime for foreigners arriving in the Free port of Vladivostok was submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation. It is expected to take effect in the summer 2016.

“Our goal is to introduce a simplified visa regime from July 1, 2016 at the first two checkpoints: the Vladivostok International Airport and the Sea Passenger Terminal of the city”, – A. Galushka is quoted by the press service of the Ministry for Development of Russian Far East.

The project provides for issuing visa in the form of an electronic document foreigners need to apply for on the appropriate website at least three days before the expected entry to the country. Personal data will be checked by the relevant competent authorities of the Russian Federation and then, in the case of positive decision, foreigners will receive notification of the granting of a single-entry eight days visa to Russia, the issue of which also requires paying the consular fee.

When crossing the border of the Russian Federation, foreigners will be enough to present a passport (or other ID paper), a valid insurance policy and a printed notification of visa granting. Foreigners will be able to leave the country either through the checkpoints of the Free port of Vladivostok (in any direction), or through other border checkpoints (only in the direction of the country the foreigner arrived from).

Recall that earlier the Ministry for Development of Russian Far East with reference to the Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev has reported its intention to introduce a new visa regime in the territory of the Free port of Vladivostok starting from January 1, 2016. The project provided for granting entry visas directly at the border. However, the late submission of the project to the Cabinet resulted in the impossibility to adopt the law in time.
