Three new visa center opened Russia to Finland in early May of this year.

Visa centers were opened in the cities Turku, Lappeenranta and Marienhamne. Since April of this year the Russian visa center is already open in Helsinki, – informs the agency ITAR-TASS.

The company VFS Global will receive documents and execute the visas. This is an independent organization, whose function will be only to accept the documents, register and deliver the passports with visas. The decision on visa issue will remain the prerogative of the Russian diplomatic missions. The function of the visa centers will be to facilitate the work of the Russian consulate and accelerate Russian visa process.

According to calculations, the execution of one set of documents in the visa application center will take no more than 10-15 minutes. The visa fee will be 21 euros.

As reported by Russian Statistics Service, in 2010 Russia was visited by more than a million Finland citizens. And this is a view of the crisis and general downturn in the tourism industry. The number of issued tourist visas reached 139.2 thousand.

Finland became the second country of Europe where Russia has opened its visa centers. The first centers have been opened in England.
