Pancake Day Celebration this year and in subsequent years will become a lure for foreign tourists – according to news reports. In particular, the publication said the head of the Committee on Tourism and the economy of Moscow city, Sergei Shpilko shared the plans of the Committee to develop the special “Pancake” tours for foreign visitors, which will include not only travel and accommodation, but also participation in the festivities.

“We are planning an extensive advertising campaign, will do everything to expand the Pancake festival abroad. We are going to develop exciting travel offers for foreigners. In addition, we will advertise the Pancake Day in international tourism exhibitions,” – the edition quotes the words of Sergei Shpilko.

As the head of the Committee notes, it is expected that about 100,000 tourists will visit the capital during the celebration of Pancake festival from 20 to 26 February. All in all, as Shpilko stated, various celebrations will be attended by more than 2 million people.

This year several agencies deal with the organization of the festival: Department of Physical Education and Sport, Tourism Committee, Department of Culture.

More than 400 different activities are scheduled on the occasion of the festival that will be held for the first time not only in the center, but also throughout the city. The main area of the festival will be moved from usual Vasilevsky spusk to Gorky Park. Bitter, because the area of the park provides the greater comfort for the expected number of guests.

The total festival budget in Moscow is estimated at 20.4 million rubles.

“Considering the statistics on the increase of the tourist traffic during the Pancake festival for the last 2 years, we can be sure to say that if this festival was promoted 9 years ago, as it is now, the profits would exceed the cost,” – the site “Turprom” quotes Sergei Shpilko.
