According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, an agreement on the mutual visa abolition between Russia and Brunei entered into force in February 2018.

As stated the document, citizens of Brunei holding ordinary passports can enter Russia without a visa for up to 14 days, unless the purpose of visit is employment, study or any income-generating activity.

A corresponding agreement was signed by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Lim Jock Seng at the APEC meeting held in Danang on November 8, 2017 but entered into force only in this February.

According to the Russian minister, this step is expected to positively affect the development of business and trade ties between the two countries.
