Uso de crisis para aumentar el flujo de turistas a Rusia
According to Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), the main purpose of the tourism market in a crisis situation is to increase the number of tourists arriving in Russia.
M. Lomidze said that last year, the number of tourists wishing to stay in the city hotels exceeded for the first time the actual number of places of accommodation in St. Petersburg. It must be noted that in 2015 Russia was visited by 26 million foreign citizens.
“Of course, we are far from France and do not host 70 million people, but a tendency exist. For example, this summer for the first time there were not enough places in St. Petersburg hotels because of overbooking. This will affect price in the next year, and even if the same situation hardly occurs, this direction will be in great demand”, – said M. Lomidze.
“Besides the foreign policy situation, we still have a difficult economic situation, but any crisis moments are always good for the inbound tourism. The aim of market participants now is to increase the number of tourists coming to Russia. For several years the flow of tourists has been annually growing and this tendency will persist in the coming years”, – said M. Lomidze.
High demand for inbound tourism contributes to the fact that operators begins to offer a variety of tourist programs in different cities of Russia.
