La mayor pista de patinaje de Europa se abrirá en VDNKh
According to the information appeared on the official Twitter account of the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, the biggest skating rink in Europe will be opened at VDNKh on November 27, the mounting of structures has been launched at the beginning of the month.
The area of the rink with an artificial turf will be more than 20 thousand square meters and taking into account changing rooms, rental centers and cafes, it will occupy more than 57 thousand square meters. The light-emitting-diode screens placed under the ice will broadcast cartoons and photos of the Exhibition Center.
The skating rink will be divided into several zones, for example, there will be allocated “Infinity” and “Big circle” avenues. The “Lovers’ Alley” will be separately created for those who like a slow and relaxing skating. In addition, it was decided to enlarge the children's area in comparison to what it was last year. It will be extended owing to the area of extreme skating.
The skating rink will be open to the public six days a week with a weekend on Monday. The ice of the rink will be able to withstand temperatures of up to 10° C. The plans on the rink’s decorations are not disclosed at the moment.
Another remarkable Moscow skating rink will be opened on November 29 on the Red Square in front of GUM. The organizers promise to create an atmosphere of the festive capital of the 60s. The Christmas Fair will be located next to the rink. On the whole, as it is expected, about 200 artificial and 1500 natural ice rinks will operate in the city.
