Rusia y la UE podrían llegar a un acuerdo sobre medidas mutuas para la cancelación del régimen de visados
Russia and the European Union have approved the plan of mutual steps on visa regime cancellation, – “Interfax” informs. However the chairman of European Commission José Manuel Barroso has underlined that process of introduction of a visa-free regime will occupy appreciable time and to count on cancellation of formalities in 2012 it is not necessary.
“We have quite good progress concerning visa regime cancellation. Now we intend to facilitate considerably entry of journalists and some categories of citizens. Certainly, next year we will not reach full cancellation of visas to everybody, but we aspire to it”, – has underlined Barroso.
However the president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev have announced about agreement of document “Joint steps and practical measures on transition to a visa-free regime of short-term trips of citizens of the Russian Federation and the European Union” expects to get a visa-free regime with the countries of Europe “in short historical prospect”.
At the moment, however, it is a question of expansion of a field of interaction between citizens of EU and Russia which become possible thanks to procedures on simplification of a visa regime for a series of categories of citizens.
In particular, one of the factors deterring process of introduction of a visa-free regime with Russia, European Union's High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton named problems of Russia in the field of migration.
The visa-free regime “supposes appreciable modernization in such areas as the migratory policy and management of borders, and also guarantees observance of fundamental human rights”, – has declared Ashton.
