According to the head of the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturizm) Oleg Safonov, Russia has many chances to become one of the top three countries leading by number of incoming foreign tourists. “We believe that we have a huge potential that our citizens could rest within the country and foreign tourists could come to us”, – said O. Safonov.

It is worth recalling that this year Russia for the first time entered the Top 10 most visited countries in the world and took the 9th place. “Our ambitions are higher. We want Russia to be in the Top 3 most visited countries around the world. In my opinion, we can do it, and the All-Russian forum “Health Resort” will help us in it”, – RIA Novosti quotes the head of the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism.

To achieve this goal, it is planned to use the potential of foreign national tourist offices Visit Russia and cross-promotion. Particular attention should also be paid to the development of the visa policy of the country, in particular, to the possibility of simplifying the procedures for issuance of Russian visas to foreign tourists. Some active measures have already been carried out in this direction: in late April of this year, the State Duma introduced a bill on issuing electronic visas. According to the experts, the introduction of electronic visas for foreign tourists coming from developed countries having a reciprocal visa regime with Russia will result in increase in the inbound tourist flow and show Russia as a strong and open country.
