Russia and countries of Schengen area came to an agreement on mutual transition in issuance of visas of five years, – cite the news agencies the message of chief of department of European cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Vladimir Voronkov.

”We managed to arrange that in the basic plan we will advance more and more from both parties to introduction of five years' visas”, – Mr. Voronkov has underlined.

Exact date of transition has not been voiced, but it is supposed that it will not occupy a lot of time. “How much time it will occupy? One-two-three years – in such time interval”, – diplomat has answered a question about innovation terms.

Five years' visas will become one more step on a way of gradual refusal of a visa regime between the countries of Schengen area and Russia. “It is the first stage which doesn't define time when our citizens can come in the countries of Europe, without receiving visas”, – Mr. Voronkov has underlined.

Russian Federation repeatedly declared the readiness to pass to visa-free regime promptly, however underlined that unilaterally visas will not be cancelled.
