As noted the Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexander Galushka, more than 11,000 foreign citizens have received electronic visas to visit the Russian Far East since August 2017.

“11,119 e-visas have been issued in the Far East; over 4,500 visas have been issued since the beginning of this year. 7,300 foreigners from 14 countries have already used a simplified visa regime to enter the country. Foreign investors and tourists can quickly and easily get an e-visa and come to Primorsky Krai, Kamchatka and Sakhalin,” reported the minister.

The majority of e-visas were issued to citizens of China (7,000 visas) and Japan (2,800 visas). The large number of citizens of Singapore, India, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and several other countries has also entered the country on the basis of free e-visas.

Free e-visa is available for citizens of 18 countries. To get this visa, a foreign citizen can make an application on a specialized website at least 4 days before the proposed entry into the country and receive it without paying a state duty and other fees.

Currently, it is planned to extend the simplified visa regime to the technically equipped air checkpoints which list will be determined by the Russian government. It is assumed that these measures will increase the inbound tourist flow and the investment attractiveness of the Far East and will positively affect the economy of the whole region.
