Se planea simplificar la obtención del permiso de residencia para estudiantes internacionales

Director of the Federal Migration Service of Russia Konstantin Romodanovsky stated the need to simplify the process of obtainment of a residence permit for foreign students studying in Russian universities.

“Those who graduated from our educational institutions should have a right to a simplified procedure of obtaining a residence permit and citizenship of Russia”, – quotes the agency “Interfax” the words of Romodanovsky.

At the same time, the universities should not become a channel for illegal labor migration. This does not mean we should block the channels of enrolment for foreigners already working in Russia, but some restrictions are needed.

As Romodanovsky noted, if a foreigner is studying in Russian university, a residence permit should be issued immediately upon enrolment and renewed annually, on condition of transfer to the next course. In future, this document, as well as the fact of residence in Russia, will become the basis for obtaining of citizenship.

In addition to citizenship, a residence permit issuing at the moment of enrolment in the university, will significantly simplify the solution of social issues relating to international students.
