On Wednesday, May 15 in Moscow after 8 months of renovation, the Lenin Mausoleum is opened.

“The mausoleum is opened for visits as usual,” – quotes the media the statement of the FSS spokesman Sergei Devyatov.

The mausoleum was closed for visitors since September last year, but the restoration work began much later – in December. The delay was related to the need of careful analysis and examination before work starting.

The main challenge facing the restorers was the removal of list in the basement of the building and the damage reparation caused by this list.

In particular, under the building the supporting concrete pillars were based to stabilize the soil, and also the additional sealing of the building was made. At the same time, as not to damage the monument located near the Mausoleum, the builders did not score piles, but they dug holes and filled them with a special compound.

According to experts, this is the first renovation of such scale held in the Mausoleum from the opening day.

The interiors of the Mausoleum were not touched, and Lenin's body all the time was on its place.

The mausoleum is opened for tourists as usual: every day except Monday, from 10:00 to 13:00.
