According to the press service of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree introducing the mechanism of electronic visas at the international airports of Buryatia and Trans-Baikal Territory from June 1, 2019.

“Two airports in Buryatia and Transbaikalia are now able to receive tourists entered on e-visa. This is the airport of the city of Ulan-Ude and the airport of the city of Chita. The electronic visa is a simplified way to enter the territory of our country. When such a mechanism was introduced at international airports of the Russian Far East, a tourist flow has increased in the region. Therefore, we expect that the growth of foreign tourist flow will also occur in Buryatia and Transbaikalia,” reported Alexander Kozlov, the Russian Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.

The e-visa to visit Buryatia and Trans-Baikal Territory will be available to citizens of 18 countries. This visa will be issued four days before the intended entry into the country without paying a consular fee.

Taking into account the two new international airports, it will be possible to visit 8 Far Eastern regions on the e-visa from June 1, 2019. Air checkpoints operate now in Vladivostok (Knevichi airport), Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Yelizovo), Blagoveshchensk (Ignatievo), Khabarovsk (Noviy), Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Khomutovo) and Anadyr (Ugolny). In addition, sea checkpoints operate in the Sakhalin region, Primorsky Krai and Kamchatka.
