Introducción de una estancia de 72 horas sin visado en Pskov
According to the chairman of the Pskov region tourism committee Olga Kachnova, the region’s governor sent a regional initiative to the Russian government proposing to introduce a three-day visa-free stay for foreign tourists.
“We focus on the development of the inbound tourism. We want to make it possible to issue electronic visas for foreigners, and of course, we are very interested in a 72-hour visa-free stay for foreigners in the Pskov region,” explained O. Kachnova.
According to the experts, the simplification of the visa regime will contribute to a significant increase in tourist arrivals from the border countries, in particular Estonia and Latvia. Citizens of these countries show an active desire to visit the region, however, they encounter an obstacle in the form of the high visa fee. Currently, a single-entry visa fee is about 80 euros which is approximately equal to two to three costs of the entire trip to Pskov.
In 2018, the Pskov region was visited by about 1 million people as part of excursion groups and about 400 thousand tourists. The Pskov authorities intend to increase the tourist flow to the region to 500 thousand people by 2025.
