The first Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup fan passport, so-called FAN ID, has officially been handed over in the Russian House of Science and Culture in the center of Berlin, Germany.

FAN ID has been handed over to the Berlin resident Christoph Ladvain by the Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev. The Vice-President of the German Football Union Rainer Koch and the president of the Berlin Football Union Bernd Schultz have also participated in the event.

“We are glad that numerous fans and tourists from Germany go to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. We know that German football is very strong; the German team who won the Confederations Cup in Russia is deservedly the world champion. Our football fields became fortunate for the German team, and we wish you success,” said Mr. Nechaev.

It should be recalled that FAN ID will be required for anyone who wants to attend the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches. This document is issued on individual basis to each fan and is mandatory for all match visitors including residents of Russia. FAN ID allows foreign fans entering the country without visas.

According to the vice-president of the German Football Union, football remains one of the few things that unite all cultures and religions. He expressed the hope that football will help Russia and Germany to get closer in many matters.

In his turn, Christoph Ladvain said that he is going to visit at least three football matches and he has already purchased tickets for them. It is planned that the German national team will play in Moscow, Sochi and Kazan. According to Christoph Ladvain, it was not difficult to get FAN ID. “I just went online and entered personal data, everything took 5–10 minutes,” explained the fan.

Before the World Cup the “Fan House” was organized in the walls of the Russian House of Science and Culture where passports will be issued and thematic events will be held.

The first in the history of Russia FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15, 2018 in 11 Russian cities.
