Finlandia planea abrir frontera con Rusia
The Finnish authorities are planning to open borders for vaccinated Russians, as restriction on entry into the country does not deter the spread of omicron strain.
EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen and Markus Lohi, Chairman of the Finnish Parliamentary Committee on Social Affairs and Health called for removal of entry restrictions and opening of traffic on the eastern border with Russia.
According to Markus Lohi, until now there has not been a broad discussion about opening of external borders and criteria for their opening. Discussions about the resumption of tourist flow with neighboring countries should be started.
In December 2021, direct flights on the Moscow – Helsinki and St. Petersburg – Helsinki routes were restored. Passenger rail traffic was also resumed.
